Open Up Berwick's blog

Julias the rainbow dragon

Berwick upon Tweed, North East England, art, festival, news, sculpture, story,

Well its official.  I am a hopeless failiure at Blogging on here.  Ironicly, yesterday my husband set me off blogging through wordpress instead of trying to keep up to date with a web site and I'm finding it really easy and I'm getting quite into it.  Have a look if you like

Dragon Heart

Berwick upon Tweed, art, festival, fun, metal work, welding,

Well we've been a bit rubbish at blogging on here but if you use facebook search for artspace and ask to be a friend.  We've video clips and pictures etc on there where its quicker and easier to up load.

Our dragon has evolved.

Our initial vision was to have him hatching out of an egg in fire.

Our test dragon was cardboard and tussue paper (Augustus the rainbow dragon with no wings)

back to the grind

Berwick upon Tweed, Maltings, art, change, dragon, group, moving house, update,

Well we've not been doing too well at this blogging business.  Last time I posted we were just at the start of our project and our dragon was but a great idea.

Out of the ashes (really)

art, initiative, mental health, sculpture,

So Buster did his stuff before being crushed and chucked on the tip.

This is the starting point for our project.  Many of us since acquiring a mental ill health label have felt as if, and been treated as if we'd been chucked on a scrap heap by health services, social work, benefits staff, strangers and employers....

Woops

Sorry about the multiple post of the first blog - had a bit of a nightmare adding the picture proof that Phil Clarke, North East co-ordinator can be creative despite his denials.  I was wanting to add lots of pictures of Buster but I had to swallow my female pride and get my hubby to do it for me as I was loosing the plot with the software.  Technology is something I happily use when all is well, but it burns my fuse fast when it doesn't.

The Berwick group has a vision for what might come out of the ashes - so the blog with that title will follow on another day.

Buster D. Stress

Think Make Grow, World Mental Health day, arts, initiative, stress,

Hi, I'm not quite sure how to get this started... I'm not the best at starting conversations off.  Anyway, here goes...

Open up Berwick, the name may change if we get inspired but we've been too busy doing creative stuff to worry about names.  Before we knew if we had been selected as an official initiative or not we did a mini project supported by Community Arts company Think Make Grow.  In all more than 10 of us helped to create Mr Buster D. Stress.  He had three incarnations as our design ideas were honed into something both practicable and workable.
